St George’s offers funerals and memorials in Maple Ridge. We offer Christian services in the Anglican tradition and there are many options for the kind of service and what’s included. You or your loved ones don’t need to be a regular member of St George’s to have a service conducted here.
Funeral Services
The death of a loved one is a difficult time for family and friends. A Christian funeral service provides an opportunity to acknowledge that death has occurred, to give thanks for the life of the deceased and to put the death in the wider perspective of eternal life.
If you would like to arrange a funeral service at St George’s please ask your funeral director to get in touch with our office.
Memorial Services
A memorial service or celebration of life is an opportunity to remember a loved one and is different to a funeral in that the body is not present. Please get in touch with us through the office for more details and to arrange a service.
Reception
We have a cafe space available as an option to rent for receptions after the service. Typically families rent the space for two hours to allow friends and family to gather and share food and memories.
Memorial Garden
We have a small memorial garden for the scattering of ashes. Typically this takes place after a memorial service in church. If you have a funeral with cremation to follow then family and friends can come back for a small service outside at the garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long is the service? There is a pattern to the service but the service length differs depending on what the family wish to include. A typical length is 30-45 minutes.
- Do I need to include a bible reading? Yes there is always at least one reading from the bible.
- Can you do a service without too much religion? As a Christian church in the Anglican tradition our services are going to include words from the bible, a message of hope and some prayers. Normally when people ask for things to not be too religious they mean without lots of hymns and a long sermon, and we will happily work with any Maple Ridge family on putting a service together that honours your loved one, your family wishes and our church tradition.
- Does there have to be a sermon? No. Our clergy will always say a few words about the bible reading you have chosen, and bring a message of the hope of heaven ahead. We call this an address or homily as its more like 5-7 minutes in duration and not a long 30 minute sermon.
- Have other questions? Send us a message via the contact form on the top right corner of the page and we will get back to you.
